Abstract

The paper tackles question about resemblances and differences between the scientific and
the everyday kinds of understanding (or better – comprehension), about links between the scientific
comprehension and mutual understanding (consensus) among scientists, about justifications
of the standard distinguishing the scientific comprehension on the one side from the scientific
explanation on the other. The author draws the methodological resources of the systems-theoretical
approach to communications that would have allowed according to the author to consider
some highly abstracted scientific and theoretical statements as contact requests, as the common
communication of common peoples.
