The morality is the fundamental basis and ontological foundation of the education phenomenon. It is becoming increasingly apparent that modern education is excluding morals from its activities, thereby destroying its human foundation and transforming it into a moral-free institution. This paper examines the place of morality in the fundamental ontology of education and describes categories of anthropo-defining ontology of education – its existentials and societals. Ontological oppositions are developed, including the moral and spiritual (in terms of separation between categories of “human being” and “personality”), moral, moral-free, and immoral, morality and values. The author also reveals the relationship between unpredictability of morality and attitudes towards truth and dissonance of morality. Instruments of morality and ontological separation of moral categories in modern education are defined. The fundamental question regarding the morality, as well as moral duty of education, are formulated. The outpacing role of education in the moral growth of society is substantiated. The need in redefinition the content of education from the viewpoint of cultivating human principles of personality is shown. The processes of displacing morality from scientific and educational relations in Russia are presented.
