Abstract

The paper deals with monographs of the last decade, devoted to the identity of the person in ancient Mesopotamia (M. Jacques, K. Lämmerhirt, U. Steinert, L. Vacin). The author analyzes the reasons of the drift of Ancient Near Eastern Studies from sociological problems to anthropological issues. He also substantiates the relevance of anthropological research to study the personality of modern man.
