The article is devoted to the category of time and opportunity in the modern philosophy of natural science. At first glance, these two categories are not interrelated. However, in fact, a vast range of scientific and philosophical topics is devoted to the relationship between them. The article emphasizes the centuries-old nature of the study of this issue, provides the basic concepts of time. Further, the distinguished status of time in quantum mechanics is investigated and the unidirectional nature of time is problematized, which is demonstrated by the example of the works of physicists and philosophers of various eras. The article also emphasizes the importance of the aspect of modality for the study of reality in the field of modern physics, the significance of the concept of modality or multimodality in the field of analytical philosophy and modern ontology is explained. Then the author reveals the concept of modality on the example of the philosophical works of V. Heisenberg and M. Heidegger. The mutual influence of these two thinkers, according to the author, has a direct impact on the course of modern scientific and philosophical thought. Being of the possible begins to be understood as constituting being of the actual and comes to the fore in comparison with the being of the actual. A higher ontological status of being of the possible is postulated, which, in turn, requires careful study. The fundamental importance of the category of time and the category of possibility is stated not only for the disclosure of the essence of quantum mechanics, which is attempted in several recent experiments, but also for the formation of a holistic picture of the world in its qualitatively new
interpretation.
