This article on the essential teaching of the “revelations” and “monastery chronicles” is devoted to the phenomenon and the history of the mass psychoses in South Germany of the XIII and XIV centuries. Divided into three main chapters (“Society of God’s friends”, “Elsbeth von Oye from Ötenbach”, “Heinrich Seuse from Konstanz”) the article is aimed to explain the theory of “performance” (“performance practice”) and to find a common approach to the description of the everyday behavior as an integral structure.
