Abstract

This paper is devoted to a new branch of philosophy – the philosophy of engineering. The
categories of natural and artificial, which are a fundamental for philosophy of technology, “organ
projection” conception, and three principles of formation (plastic, construction, composition)
are analysed. Author proposes to define the idea of engineering in a topic including engineering,
technology, power and society, and in connection with the notion of infrastructure. Infrastructure
is considered as a system that, on one side, provided social development, and on the other – delivers conditions for order and power in the society. As the result, engineering is defined as constructing such infrastructures.
