Whirlpool Anthropology of Nikolai Berdyaev

Abstract

This article discusses sources and principal ideas of philosophical anthropology of Nikolay Berdyaev. ”Vortex anthropology” is the existential experience, which purpose revealing the
meaning of the life and creativity of the person:“the birth of God in the individual”. Interest of Berdyaev to religious searches of the people was important for his anthropological concept. The philosopher endured worship sectarians (”the Russian temptation”), but despite of this, he insisted that religious creativity requires release from sectarian spirit which focuses spiritual energy of the people on isolationism. Berdyaev criticized the Russian populism in all its forms: slavophilism,Tolstoyism and symbolism. Berdyaev fought against denial of values of the personality, neglect to cultural tradition, and uncreative nature of populism. The author of article argues with modern trend to rank Berdyaev to a conservative wing of Russian religious thinkers.
