Abstract

The article reveals specific features of the imperative of wandering and the imperative of return in late modern society. The socio-philosophical analysis of ethical foundations for the development of contemporary economic migration and the building of a value hierarchy of citizenships is conducted. Possible consequences of the publicly justified and legitimized consumerization of the institute of citizenship are explicated. The comparative analysis of relevant models of the ethics of immigration demonstrates directions and manners of argumentation in the indicated field. R. Jaeggi’s socio-critical conception of forms of life is employed to elaborate a value-normative order in the framework of which it is possible to formulate an evaluative judgement about the creative class hypermigration and estimate the consequences of the fulfilling imperative of wandering in the contemporary world. Socio-philosophical conceptions turning to the issue of the imperative of return and its ethical justification within tasks of sustainable development are delineated.
