Abstract

Initially, founders of the Society thought of mere theoretical debates of the problem of religion, which the discussion in Saint-Petersburg newspapers in the autumn 1917 showed. Yet in the same time, partisans of D.S. Merezhkovsky having taken leadership in the Society pointed out other goal that is education of the “religious public”. The All-Russian congress of religiousphilosophical societies planned for the spring 1917. It was supposed to dictate the congress anti-governmental and anti-church position. This article adduces reports of two meetings of the Society leaders that were dedicated to organizations of the forthcoming congress.
