Formal Semantics and Natural Language

The article addresses the genesis of methodology of formal semantics as an interdisciplinary project in contemporary theoretical linguistics and philosophy of language. Formal Semantics is analyzed as a discipline which integrates classical logical semantics, generative syntax and other formal grammars, intensional logic and philosophy of language. The author discusses some philosophical aspects of formal semantics as a theory of meaning for natural language.
