Kang Youwei’s theory in the presentation of his disciple

Abstract

The article presents an intellectual biography of Liang Qichao as the founder of modern
historical science in China and advocate of the theory of the Great Unity, created by his teacher
Kang Youwei. In two sets of his biography Liang Qichao created myth of extremely early time
creating Kang Youwei’s utopia. The article precesses the first translation into Russian of chapters
22, 23 and 24 from the “Intellectual Trends in the Qing period”, and the seventh chapter “Biography
of Kang Youwei”. It consists about half of the entire biography and divided into five sections
of which are presenting the fi rst three.
