On philosophical textology or what exactly the history of philosophy should be teaching

Abstract

This article raises the issue of possibility and necessity of philosophical text studies and
positively answers this question in the context of methodology of researches in the history of
philosophy. It is noted that nowadays text studies became inter-disciplinary and united a large
number of philological, historical, psychological, sociological and other works. The author assesses
its methodological perspective outlook, points out the necessity to take into consideration
specifics of textual activity in philosophy and reveals it, using the idea of philosophical
discourse, the concepts of the completeness of philosophical text and communicative situation
in philosophical text. The tasks of philosophical text studies that have been defi ned are to help
preserve philosophy in the modern context.
