Particle Physics – Logical and Philosophical Comment
Keywords:

The paper discusses conceptual foundations of the particle physics. This theme is examined in connection with problem of logical and philosophical analysis of physical language and its usage in cognitive procedures. The author emphasizes crucial part of the ontological assumptions in theoretical concepts formation. We consider two issues to be the most important. (1) Scantiness of the ontological experience which classical physics used at the end of the XIX century. Therefore it is necessary to generalize ontological experience of industrial and scientific activity of the previous century, which demonstrated new, not noticeable in former times, aspects of reality. (2) Logical inconsistence of “classical” ontologies which is connected first of all with two problems: the problem of substance fissionability and of action at a distance. It is essential that philosophy pointed out these problems long ago.
String theory suggests a new concept of particle nature. The author is certain that this concept demands radical revision of former ontological foundations of Physics. The paper discusses some important consequences of such revision.
