A surplus humanity? Malthusianism and Marxism concerning the problem of “extra people”

This article concerns the problems of overpopulation and poverty in terms of the processes
of modern globalization. The Malthusian and Marxist approach to the problem of “extra people”
is analyzed. The author points out the crucial differences between these approaches and compares
their heuristic potentials.
