Abstract

The brain neuronetwork and social network are structurally similar: both are composed of elements capable of performing simple functions and “weighing” their connections with neighboring elements. Both have the cognitive superstructures: cognitive brain modules and cognitive social networks. If we have computers of the same neural architecture, controlled by different programs, an interface between them is possible as a library of functions that translates commands from one programming language to the other. Such an interface between the brain and the society is language. The “network paradigm” has every reason to claim the role of the transdisciplinary methodology applied to the study of both consciousness and society. It is not a philosophical theory in the strict sense since, instead of conceptual analysis, it offers a kind of “network ontology”. But, from a certain angle, it can be seen as a non-standard strategy of conceptual analysis, mastery of which is a legitimate right of philosophy, according to well-known claims of the analytical tradition.
