Abstract

Famous Japanese Confucian scholar Kaibara Ekiken (1630–1714) wrote his treatise Rakkun (“Precept in Happiness”) at the dawn of his life when he was 81. In this treatise he argues that the clue to true happiness is enjoying nature and reading clever books. This is especially true for aging people. The publication presents Rakkun translated into Russian by Alexander
Mesheryakov.
