Abstract

The article is dedicated to exploring Kircher's stance on the question of correlation of the roles played by God and man in creation of the primordial language, as well as relevant ideas of Plato’s “Cratylus” that was a part of the foundation of Kircher’s linguistic-genetic conception. Besides, a composition and content of the supplemental sources which had determined the considered views of the great polymath of 17th century are discussed.
