Abstract

There is the calligraphic note “Малебраншъ” in the Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s “notebook” of
1864–1865. The name of the French philosopher Nicolas Malebranche, author of the famous
work “The Search After Truth”, is still missing in the lists of writers who had influenced to the
Dostoevsky’s works. However, in “Crime and Punishment”, as well as in other his works , there
are the significant amount of reminiscences of Malebranche’s book and allusions to his philosophical
concepts .The article examines some traces of Malebranche philosophy in Dostoevsky's
works.
