To the Problem of Semiotic Interpretation of Rock Art

The paper is aimed to consider the interpretation aspect of the cliff art semiotics within the
limits of semiotic theories of a culturological. The aim of this article is the reference to parallel
studying primitive and archaic culture, as to the most comprehensible form of interpretation of
semantics the cliff arts proves. The theoretical considerations are verifi ed on the empiric material
of the traditional people of the North. Sacred rocks in the Yakut religious-mythological views
had the sacral signifi cance.
