Reality, Speech and Alphabet in Scholastic Tradition

The article considers different conceptions of relations that exist between elements of reality, thought, oral and written language. The attention is focused on doctrines elaborated in medieval and, predominately, post-medieval European scholasticism. The development of those conceptions followed the line conducting from the simple tripartite scheme present in Aristotle to the formulations of complex nonlinear relations between indicated elements, based on their structural and semantic conformity.
