Abstract

The article deals with the Chinese and Japanese sources of Shasekishū, including Chinese
Buddhist legacy and its Japanese compendia, Japanese kambun texts (Kūkai, Genshin), temple
legends engi, setsuwa tales and poetical anthologies. With such selection of sources Mujū Ichien
shows the variety of ways to salvation and denies the claims of radical Buddhist movements of
Kamakura era. The article presents Shasekishū fragment Хb-1 – Хb-3 translated into Russian.
