On the History of A.F. Losev’s commentary to Nicholas of Cusa’s Treatise “De non aliud”
Abstract
The publication illustrates the attitude of the Russian philosopher Aleksei Fedorovich Losev
(1893–1988) to the grate German thinker Nicholas of Cusa. The main part of materials on this
theme was lost after Losev’s arrest in 1930 or remained unpublished up to now (for example, the
scattered fragments of his book “Nicholas of Cusa and medieval dialectics”). In the middle of
the 1930th, Losev translated three treaties (“De non aliud”, “Idiota de mente” and “De possest”)
and wrote his commentaries, included commentary on Cusanus’ treaty “De non aliud”. After 80
years this commentary published for the fi rst time.
