“The Ideological Controversies” in Politics: the Raymond Aron’s Conception of “Secular Religion” in the Ideological Confrontation of Intellectuals

Abstract

Article is devoted to the analysis of the concept of “secular religion” of R. Aron in a context of criticism of theories of “the end of ideology” of the 50th of the XX century. Raymond Aron one of the first for reorientation of the intellectuals uses a method of an identification of ideology of Marxism with religious ideology, with some kind of secular religion; and in this identity finds error fundamentalis of marxism as opium of the left intellectuals. As a tribune for promoting of the views Aron uses the pro-American Congress for Cultural Freedom.
