Local Communities in Urban Space: New Meanings and Destructions

The purpose of the article is to analyze the functional significance of local communities, philosophical understanding of the processes of their transformation in the conditions of urban life, the manifestation of destructive tendencies. The article examines such aspects of the functioning of local communities as the material basis, social organization and spiritual content. The key essential features of local communities include the following: belonging to a geographic place of residence, community of interests, solidarity, collectively shared values determined by the significance of urban space, a combination of personal and territorial well-being in the relations of social actors. In the conditions of digital existence, new modes of local communities are being formed: the scale of the presence of participants, anonymity, impersonality, mosaic, digital mobility of social actors in the practices of transition and search for new groups and self-identification resources. The existential and social meanings of the functioning of local communities are based on the following planes: satisfying the need for communication and support; preserving the values of unity and solidarity; formation of local identity, constructs of the personal life world; transforming social resources into improving quality of life; creating conditions for the realization of the subjective position of the individual in urban space.
