The archival text “Russian Culture and Its World-Historical Significance” by Pavel Sergeevich Popov, a well-known Russian philosopher, logician, and editor of the academic collection of L.N. Tolstoy’s works, is being published. The text argues that Russian culture is a global heritage, and the German Nazi expose barbarism and inhuman nature through their desire to destroy this culture. Popov primarily focuses on written evidence of worldwide recognition of the uniqueness of literary works created by A.S. Pushkin, I.S. Turgenev, L.N. Tolstoy, A.P. Chekhov, and A.M. Gorky. In addition, he highlights the global significance of Russian music, painting, and literary criticism. Finally, he demonstrates the contribution of Russian natural sciences (I.I. Mechnikov, D.I. Mendeleev, I.P. Pavlov, and others) and inventions (I.P. Kulibin, I.I. Polzunov, P.N. Yablochkov, A.S. Popov, and others) to the world’s intellectual treasury. Popov’s main idea, which holds fundamental significance for contemporary Russia, is that true patriotism and love for one’s homeland are instilled through culture. Russian culture embodies the cultural order of humanity. The victory over fascism is a victory of world culture and reason.
